TESI

Team Emotional and Social Inventory

Good teamwork doesn’t just happen. Conscious effort is needed to help groups of individuals work together as a team..
Good team performance and positive team relations need to be developed and maintained and certain features or ‘building blocks’ enable teams to work together well.
Before looking at these you might want to reflect on your own experience of team work. Jobs are becoming more and more complex and very few jobs today lend themselves to solitary action. To solve problems we need to depend on each other and function as a team.
Properly managed, teamwork maximizes strengths and brings out the best in each team member. It’s the glue, which keeps a team together.

HOW CAN TEAMWORK BE IMPROVED?

Work group members can help each other improve their performance and work together toward improving their professional development. Team members come to rely on each other and trust each other. These bonds can be important when the team faces a particularly difficult challenge or if the group is forced to deal with the loss of a team member while still trying to maintain productivity.

HOW WILL TESI BENEFIT MY TEAM?

  • The TESI ® is a scientific tool specifically focused on how to assess and improve teamwork.
  • Each team member rates the team’s behaviors, engagements and skills from his or her perspective.
  • A report is generated which allows all team members and the leaders to understand how the team functions and how effective it is in reaching its goals.
  • The report offers unique insights for understanding your current strengths and weakness as a team and how to improve.
  • It allows companies to take on more work and generate more revenue without having to add more staff.

HRG™

The Hardiness Resilience Gauge™

BUILD HARDY AND MORE RESILIENT LEADERS AND TEAMS

Leaders who cultivate characteristics of hardiness within their organizations have teams that are better able to adapt to stress and adversity, less likely to suffer from burnout and are more resilient to change.

The Hardiness Resilience Gauge™ (HRG™) is grounded in over 30 years of research and development and provides valuable insight into an individual’s level of hardiness and their ability to cope with stressful and unexpected situations. Research has documented the protective nature of hardiness – people who are higher in hardiness are less likely to experience the negative effects of stress on health and performance. Those high in hardiness are not invulnerable to stress, but they do not experience the same degree of negative stress-related outcomes as those who are low in hardiness. The HRG measures how effectively a person can cope with stress. The assessment provides a Total Hardiness score in addition to scores measuring three qualities that are instrumental for predicting how resilient an individual will be.
These three qualities are referred to as Challenge, Control and Commitment.

PERFORM

Our EQ in Action programs offer training, development and coaching with the objective for individuals and organizations to become high performers.

Pre- and Post Assessments show a significant increase in Emotional Intelligence for the great majority of participants.

The graph below shows the results of an emotional intelligence training program.
The emotional intelligence training was part of a proprietary leadership development program for a multinational construction management firm with projects in over 60 different countries, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. In making the decision to incorporate emotional intelligence training into the Leadership training program the stakeholders held the hypothesis that being emotionally intelligent positively impacts leadership effectiveness and that leadership effectiveness, in turn, has a positive impact on individual and organizational performance.

The analysis of the participants’ pre and post scores revealed positive and significant improvements in their emotional intelligence as measured by the EQ-i. The participants with the lowest pre- training scores demonstrated the highest increase in their EQ-i´s demonstrating the value of the program especially for low performers.

The anecdotal examples the participants provided offer support for the positive impact the program had on performance. Further, they consistently report improvements in other areas of their lives, e.g. personal relationships.

As one participant summed it up:

Emotional intelligence is in my view a very extensive and important aspect of both professional and private life. It has made me more aware of, and has given me a different perspective, on these things. I now feel that training has given me tools for becoming more emotionally intelligent and hence, a better leader.” He later concludes by saying, “Even though emotional intelligence training is not an entirely comfortable experience, this part of the program alone has for me been worth the effort.

The final data and the anecdotal reports reveal that the emotional intelligence training that was part of the Leadership training delivered the desired outcomes.

The time period during which the training occurred was a time of unprecedented change for the company, changes the participants were required to both lead and cope with themselves.

Participants have
reported that using
the emotional
intelligence training
has produced direct
and positive impacts
in such areas as:

Negotiations

“I’ve learned that being able to understand what is motivating the other parties is essential for achieving your objectives.”

Motivating employees

“…through listening and observation I have become more aware of employees’ needs and concerns.”

Stress management

“I have increased the balance in life, which has increased my efficiency at work.”

Conflict resolution

“Listening and understanding others’ problems and solving them so that both the individual and the company are winners, that is the most typical challenge in applying emotional intelligence.”

Communication

“My interpersonal interactions with customers,
colleagues and subordinates have improved by being able to establish a deeper communication.”

Managing change and
coping with change

“When moving to a new job (in a new country) I needed
to make people feel comfortable in telling me the truth.
There were a lot of problems and improvement areas
which needed to be identified. By using emotional
intelligence, I think I got a good response and I could,
therefore, take quick action in creating a new structure.”

Productivity

“Proper listening and understanding have contributed to
generating trust and therefore, more business opportunities.”
And from someone else, “Recovering focus leads to accurate
analysis and proper decisions which has a direct impact on
the bottom line.”
